This bucket bag was inspired by my Heavenly Calm mood board. More specifically, I was drawn into the clean, outlined details of the mood board items, particularly the waves and structured aesthetic of the lovely figurines. Referring to the course video of the quirky and lovely Muriel Favaro, I proceeded to start with the layout of my mock-up bag.

A mock-up is basically a draft or a prototype. So, the best thing about making one is that you can revise until you are satisfied. Creating product mock-ups are extremely important because it enables the product designers and manufacturers to iron out everything about the product from determining raw materials needed, to costing, and manufacturing. Mock-ups allow the designer to ensure that the details and functionalities of the product are the way they want it to be for their customer.

In another light, I see the prototyping phase as something similar to our youth, and the production phase as (mid-late) adulthood; it's better to commit mistakes now than later in life, when the mistakes are more risky and more costly.

Speaking of costs, I used a lot of references to come up with the estimate cost of the bucket bag, including the standard industry mark-up, so here's the calculation I made:

P.S. Stay tuned for my next post to see how I stumble and hustle to create the actual bucket bag. Would you bet it'll look like this mock-up? Wish me luck!
