Coping with Climate Change

The cold (almost) winter days have given me a lot of inspiration to write. We've been on house arrest for the past couple of days because the weather in Chicago has just been brutal. Whoever thinks climate change isn't real should think again (Hi, Trump).

Anyway, the Arctic winds have made us clamor for big, thick outerwear. Hence, some of my clothes, specifically those suited for the tropics, are already in hibernation mode. However, there is one garment that proves to serve me well even on freezing snow days, and that, my friends, is my pair of culottes. I actually have three pairs- all thrifted in the Philippines, but the one pictured here is my favorite just because its been with me during my concert highs and tipsy lows (Haha). Although I use it for going out in the Philippines, usually pairing it with either a simple cropped top or an inserted sleeveless top with a belt, I use it here in the U.S. for those chill, sweater-weather-days in the house to cope with climate change.

Culottes are comfortable, functional, versatile, and timeless. You could wear it as pajamas and pair it with an over-sized sweater (at least that's what I do), or you could pair it with a sophisticated top and wear it to your girls' night out. The possibilities are endless! And hey, it's a simple start for practicing sustainable fashion so why not? I bet it will serve you well for years and maybe also help you cope with the fact that WINTER. IS. COMING.
